Bundesliga expert Kevin Hatchard has rubbished suggestions that Bayern Munich are expected to make a move for Emerson Royal this summer.
Over the last few days, a number of outlets have credited Bayern with an interest in Emerson, who is thought to be surplus to requirements for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
This includes an update from Bild which claimed that Bayern are battling AC Milan and Juventus for the Brazilian after Spurs put him on the shop window.
The report stated that the Bavarian club are ‘one of the several interesting options’ for the 25-year-old, who Spurs are thought to be ‘ready to sell’ for a fee of around €29m (£24.7m).
Meanwhile, Brazilian outlet Trivela even suggested earlier this week that the Bundesliga giants had already made an offer for the Tottenham man.
However, a couple of days ago, Florian Plettenberg downplayed the rumours, insisting that while the German club had discussed a move for Emerson in the past, a right-back is no longer a priority for the side.
Hatchard has now dismissed the rumours completely out of hand, writing on X: “This Emerson Royal to Bayern story is wild. He isn’t good enough, he’d be too expensive and they don’t need a right-back. Apart from all that, it makes perfect sense.”

This Emerson to Bayern rumour might not have any legs. However, all the fans and pundits rushing to suggest that Emerson is not good enough for Bayern would do well to remember that they said the same about Dier.
Just because a player struggles in one particular system and environment, does not mean he cannot thrive at a completely different set-up.
