Ange Postecoglou has ruled out managing Greece in the future, joking that he only plans on going back to his country of birth on holiday.
Postecoglou was born in Greece but moved to Australia at quite a young age, spending his entire professional career Down Under and even starting his management career in the country.
Although the 58-year-old might have been a relatively unknown quantity to European football fans until the last few years, he has a couple of decades of experience in management, having managed several A-League sides before making the switch to Yokohama Marinos in Japan.
Postecoglou has also had a foray into international management, having taken charge of the Socceroos from 2013 to 2017, helping them win the Asian Cup in 2015 and also leading them to the World Cup in 2014.
The Tottenham coach, who had previously also coached Australia’s youth sides, was asked if he would consider taking over the Greek national team one day.
He responded (via Football.London): “It’s definitely in my future that you’ll see me in Greece, but it’s more likely to be on an island somewhere on a sunbed. I’ve got a big challenge here at Spurs and I’m looking forward to bringing some success here.
“I was born in Greece, I very much feel Greek and I’ll definitely be there this summer like I am every summer but as far as coaching goes I’m happy where I am.”

At this stage of his career, I would be very surprised if Ange considers returning to international management.
He perhaps has a decade or potentially less left in his career and one would think that he would want to remain at the highest level for as long as possible, given how hard he has worked to get where he has.
