Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou alreay started laying the first bricks of the long-awaited rebuild last summer.
The arrivals of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison have proved to be shrewd signings, however, the reality is there are a number of positions which still lack depth or the prospect of players departing in certain areas of the pitch ahead of the 24/25 campaign.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for some time and Fabrizio Romano has now given his take on the England international’s future.
Romano has claimed that the Chelsea captain has not been offered a new contract to extend his stay at the club to date.
Gallagher is out of contact at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025 (transfermarkt) with Romano insiting that both parties have not sat down to discuss an extension.
Romano told CaughtOffSide: “My latest understanding is that there’s still no conversation between Chelsea and Gallagher over a new deal, so it’s up to the club to decide what they want to do,.
“There’s interest from several clubs but I’m not hearing about anything being close or concrete now, the usual interest from many clubs, including Tottenham, is there, but there’s nothing new in terms of negotiations.”
Tottenham remain interested in the 24-year-old as part of their plans to bolster the squad with the club looking to compete on multiple fronts next season.
The North Londoners will be looking to secure UEFA Europa League qualification later this afternoon when they face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the final match of the Premier League season.
Chelsea may be forced to part ways with Gallagher this summer to appease the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules and it remains to be seen whether he would be prepared to leave his boyhood club for their most fiercest rivals.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg likely to leave this summer there is a need for to bring in fresh blood within the Spurs first-team squad, especially in the midfield area.
Tottenham are lacking a quality number six with Yves Bissouma having struggled in the role and is more suited to playing further up the pitch, I have doubts that Gallagher is also suited to the role when he need someone who is more akin to shielding the back four.
