Tottenham Hotspur fans certainly saw the most animated side of Ange Postecoglou since taking over the club during last night’s defeat to Manchester City.
The Australian has typically been a relaxed figure during his time in North London with just some small signs of his fiery nature, until last night in a fixture which ended the hopes of Champions League qualification.
The Tottenham head coach snapped at a supporter who was seated in the Tunnel Club premium area of the west stand which is located directly behind the Spurs first-team bench.
With some home supporters wanting their side to lose the match to help stop Arsenal from winning the Premier League title, The Athletic have claimed that contrary to the belief the fan had asked Postecoglou for his side to throw in the towel, instead, he had questioned the former Celtic boss on the why he had not shown the same animation earlier in the season rather than just against Manchester City.
After walking back from his technical area towards the bench, Postecoglou was heard yelling in a video uploaded to X: “What did you say? What did you say before that? Just so I know who you are. There you are. I’m watching you. Watch your mouth, huh?”
The exchange ended in the supporter being ejected from the stadium.
While Postecoglou is right to be upset after losing the match 2-0 to Manchester City, what has confused some supporters is the fact he did not show this level of passion in any of the four matches in which we suffered successive defeats which was one of the main causes of our failure to finish in the top four.
