CBS no longer wants to talk about it.
Following months of rumors of the daytime talk show’s demise, CBS confirmed on Friday that The Talk would only get a shortened 15th season starting this fall and would sign off for good in December following a “celebratory send-off.”
The show, which launched in 2010, is currently hosted by Sheryl Underwood, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, Akbar Gbajabiamila, and Amanda Kloots. While Underwood has been with The Talk since its second season... Читать дальше...

The orgasmic groaning and grunting are part of tennis’ appeal. They reflect the intensity of the sport: how hard players have to hit the ball; how fast they have to dash from one end of the court to the other; how carefully they have to avoid slipping on their own sweat, dripping off their body and onto the ground in the punishing heat of the sun. Just making contact between the ball and racket is enough primal satisfaction to rival any roll in the hay. A loud, irrepressible moan serves the same purpose in tennis as it does in sex. Grant Amato appeared, on the surface, to be living his dream. A 29-year-old college-educated native of Chuluota, Florida, he resided in his beautiful childhood home with his loving parents Chad and Margaret, as well as an older brother, Cody, whom he idolized and who apparently felt likewise about him. Grant and Cody loved guns and were studying to be nurse anesthetists, and they did everything together, including playing Airsoft, a tactical team-based shooting game in which participants pretend to be soldiers. Long before Donald Trump was using social media to divide America, O.J. Simpson was among the country’s most polarizing figures. So when, in what ended up being his final years, Simpson used his Twitter/X account to to share his thoughts about literally anything and everything, he seemed to think he might be able to rebrand himself as something other than an acquitted murder suspect. Most of us still cringe when we hear the phrase “COVID movie,” not because it’s “too soon,” but because seemingly every angle of the pandemic, of lockdown, of vaccine paranoia has already been dramatized. We’ve had dramas about how social isolation is bad, thrillers about lockdown home invasion, horror movies about the next transmittable contagion beyond our dimension. After four years we’ve kind of covered it, and, frankly, it’s not a subject that many people necessarily want to keep revisiting. Читать дальше...

When four siblings conspire to surreptitiously dispose of a dead body, tweenage Melissa (Ayaamii Sledge) raises an important point about their caution levels: “It’s not 1991—there are cameras everywhere!” Why is her frame of reference 33 years ago, at least two decades before her birth? The same two reasons these kids are looking into body disposal in the first place: This is a remake of the 1991 movie Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Superstitions and the suffering they breed conspire to plague a Congo native who returns to his homeland in Omen, director Baloji’s hauntingly oblique feature debut of terror, trauma, and the ties that bind us to our past and present kin. Embarking upon what seems like a straightforward narrative path before veering into more hallucinatory and ambiguous terrain, this import (which premiered to acclaim at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in NYC April 12 and in LA April 19) may not always congeal...
