Plus-size swimwear has long been a sleepy category full of floral tankinis and less-than-flattering swim skirts. To put it plainly: It’s been, well, plain. Everyone deserves options that make them feel confident and comfortable — nothing less.

If you’ve been looking for something to wear under your linen sets this summer, J.Crew has it. The preppy brand offers items from string bikinis to long-sleeved rash guards, all in sizes up to 3X. You’ll find tamer patterns here, but they’re still cute nonetheless.

Target is the go-to for cute and affordable swimwear, and plenty of the brands it offers are size-inclusive. Its trendier in-house line Wild Fable has swim pieces that are colorful, fun, and as strappy or as covered up as you need them to be. Our pick is a bright green set adorned with a strawberry print. Don’t worry, it also comes in brown if you’d like to skip the bold colors.

ASOS has a decent selection of affordable plus-size swimwear. And it’s all pretty cute. The only caveat is that — like those sneakers and lounge sets you’ve had your eye on — these items tend to sell out fast.
