2nd Amendment Sanctuary States
So called Sanctuary Cities for criminal elements of illegal immigrants in “Sanctuary States” have become a breeding ground for illegals to hide out when wanted by the law since 2000, causing friction between federal and local law enforcements and officials.
The idea took hold recently for creating Sanctuary States for law abiding 2nd Amendment Advocates who, with defunding of police and left wing promotion of violence against the innocent, need to feel safe in the high crime Sanctuary States and nation wide. They reacted. Thus, the greatest purchase of home defense weapons was triggered.
But those 2nd Amendment believers want more than just the right to own or carry a gun to protect from criminal elements, they want protection from local laws.
“ My home of Star, Idaho recently declared itself a 2nd amendment sanctuary,….Sheriffs are beginning to step forward and assert that they will not enforce unconstitutional laws. Our state and local governments have the ability to push back, and many are beginning to do so,” John Green wrote in the American Thinker Green, an engineer, considers himself a “a political refugee from Minnesota, now residing in Star Idaho.”
Conservatives have been brow beaten but never defeated, Green writes, reminding them that the States came out ahead in elections in terms of elected officials and in Congress.
“We have over 75 million followers. That number is our floor, not our ceiling. Our ranks are growing every day. The more our ruling class attempts to suppress us, the faster our movement will grow. Remember when the left used to warn us, “Don’t mistreat terrorists. They’ll use it as a recruiting tool.” They were right, and it applies here too.”
In the span of two months, more than 120 towns, cities, and counties in Virginia have declared themselves “Second Amendment sanctuaries” where “unconstitutional” gun laws would not be enforced. The movement is drawing steam from the raft of gun reform bills state Democrats introduced after gaining full control of the statehouse for the first time in more than two decades.
Illinois citizens are in another state involved in the movement:
“It’s a buzzword, a word that really gets attention. With all these sanctuary cities, we just decided to turn it around to protect our Second Amendment rights,” said David Campbell, vice chairman of the Effingham County Board. He said at least 20 Illinois counties and local officials in Oregon and Washington have asked for copies of Effingham County’s resolution,” AP writes. “
“We’re just stealing the language that sanctuary cities use,” Effingham County’s top prosecutor, Bryan Kibler said to AP. He came up with the idea.
Virginians are in one of those states endorsing 2nd Amendment Sanctuary concepts: : “More than 400 municipalities in 20 states have now passed resolutions opposing the enforcement of certain gun laws passed by state or federal lawmakers. In other places, sheriffs say they won’t enforce specific gun safety laws and firearm confiscation statutes, “ the Jennifer Mascala writes in the Trace.
Officials argue that the movement has no teeth. But if local law enforcement officials refuse to enforce unconstitutional 2nd Amendment laws, the movement has force behind it.
Representatives in the state of Arizona are the latest to file for 2nd Amendment Sanctuary protection.
