End of Watch: Officer Patrick Underwood Shot, “Assassinated” In Oakland Protests
The family and friends of the Federal Protective Service officer who was shot and killed at the Federal Building in Oakland Friday night have confirmed his identity to ABC7 I-Team’s Dan Noyes. The victim is 53-year-old Patrick Underwood of Pinole, Calif.
The FBI stated the shooting occurred at the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building at 1301 Clay St. Authorities say a vehicle pulled up to the building and an assailant inside the vehicle began shooting at security personnel stationed outside. Another officer was shot and is in critical condition, sfgate reported.
The FBI released a statement to KPIX 5:
“A vehicle approached the building…. “An individual inside the vehicle began firing shots at contracted security officers for the Federal Protection Service of the Department of Homeland Security. One officer was killed and another injured.” law enforcement today reported
“The Oakland Police Department will continue to facilitate peaceful demonstrations. Individuals who vandalize, burglarize, or destroy property in our community and take advantage of vulnerable and unsecured business during the demonstrations by looting will be arrested,” Oakland Police Department.
As we continue to provide a safe space for people to peaceful demonstrate. We will not tolerate violence or destruction in our valued and vulnerable city. We had a shooting and there was looting. We made multiple arrests for both crimes. No one was struck by the gunfire…..Saturday report
