The security forces have killed two key Taliban commanders during a joint operation which they conducted in Faryab province.
The Special Operations Corps said in a statement that the Special Forces conducted a joint operation with the Air Forces in Aliabad Village of Gurziwan district in Faryab.
The statement further added that the security forces killed Esmatullah and Mahboobullah, two key commanders of Taliban during the operation.
Furthermore, the Special Operations Corps said the security forces also killed 13 other militants and wounded 8 more during the same operation.
A soldier of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces miraculously survived after a Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher pierced his thigh and came out unexploded.
Photographs shared social media purportedly show the RPG round piercing through the back of the thigh of the Afghan Local Police.
The astonishing images, posted on social media websites in Afghanistan, show the Rocket Propelled Grenade round embedded in the back of the thigh of the soldier.
The images purport to show a high explosive fragmentation RPG round piercing the thigh of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) soldier. Both the Afghan security personnel and anti-government armed militants frequently use the Russian-made round in their daily offensive operations.
The ALP soldier appears to be in a hospital and has bandages around the lethal explosive, which protrudes out the back of the thigh of the man.
It is not clear where and when the picture was taken but the Afghan Local Police (ALP) soldiers are mostly fighting the Taliban and ISIS militants in northern and eastern parts of the country.
