Sgt. Maj. James G. “Ryan” Sartor Killed in Action
Sgt. Maj. James G. “Ryan” Sartor was killed by small arms fire July 13, 2019 in Faryab province, Afghanistan.
“We’re incredibly saddened to learn of Sgt. Maj. James “Ryan” Sartor’s passing in Afghanistan. Ryan was a beloved warrior who epitomized the quiet professional. He led his soldiers from the front and his presence will be terribly missed,” Col. Brian R. Rauen, Army’s Special Operations Command, said.
Sartor was deployed to Iraq as an infantryman in 2002 and as a Green Beret in 2006,2007,2009, and 2010. He also deployed to Afghanistan with 10th SFG (A) in 2017 and 2019 wkrg reported
Sgt. 1st Class Elliott J. Robbins, 31, a Special Forces medical sergeant from Ogden, Utah, assigned to 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), died Sunday, June 30, 2019, from non-combat related injuries in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
The incident is under investigation.
