Second Soldier assigned to US – Mexico border found dead
A second soldier serving on the US-Mexico border was found dead this week. As with the earlier death this month of another US soldier on the border, officials say that they have ruled out foul play and both incidents are under investigation.
21-year-old Pfc. Kevin J. Christian of Haslet, Texas, an infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. was found dead near Ajo, Arizona and identified 23 June, military times reported.
PFC Steven Hodges died on the Tucson Arizona border early June, Tucson sentinel reported. Hodges served with the Tomahawk battalion, in unit “Task Force Red Lion.
“Every Soldier in the Tomahawk Battalion is an essential member of our team. The loss of any Soldier is deeply felt. Private First Class Steven Hodges is sorely missed by his teammates and the entire Tomahawk family, every Soldier is a national treasure,” Lt. Col. Sean Lyons.
