Man Arrested for Shooting, Killing Burglars in His Home With “Illegal” Gun
29 May, Ronald Stolarczyk entered his home in Deerfield, NY only to be startled by two burglars that he caught off guard.
He fatally shot the two intruders, 57-year-old Patricia Talerico and her nephew, 27-year-old Nicholas Talerico, at a house on the 1600 block of Walker Road in Deerfield, AP reported.
He pled self defense when confronted by authorities. “He said he was scared to death they were going to kill him,” according to Mark Wolber, Stolarczyk’s attorney.
The intruders, unknown to Stolarczyk may have burglarized his home before according to Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara as reported by WKTV. Police found items belonging to Stolarczyk in another home and police are trying to determine if the two robbed Stolarczyk’s home the previous week.
“A truckload of evidence was seized last night. At this point, we have to determine whether or not that was evidence that had been taken from this residence on a prior occasion,” McNamara said.
Police “investigating” the incident made a big reveal: Stolarczyk had shot the two intruders with an “illegal” gun. He was arrested on illegal possession of a weapon charges and put in the slam late May.
District Attorney’s office indicated that the weapon he used in self-defense was his dead father’s and he forgot to register it, according to Fox and other news.
State Police were assisted by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, oneoneidadispatch reported
He was released on bail 4 June and is to appear in court for another hearing in August cnycentral.com reported
