It’s time to give Paris Hilton a well-deserved round of applause. The TV personality hurriedly took down a TikTok earlier this week when it was met with resounding backlash. In the video, her adorable kiddos — Phoenix, 1 and London, 6 months — are all dressed up for a Mother’s Day brunch.
They’re each sitting in their car seats, and the setup had alarm bells going off for a lot of followers. Because the seats were facing forward (and, at that age, they should likely be rear-facing) and the kids were strapped in with their buckles and a “regular” seatbelt stretched across their laps.
“Please hire someone to install car seats,” one person reportedly commented. Another said, “Crazy unsafe. This is wild,” per The Daily Mail.
And though the original video has been taken down, the mom of two just shared a new one. In it, she showed her new car seat setup. Each of her kids — whom she shares with husband Carter Reum — are facing the back of the car and are only strapped in with the car seat’s 5-point harness. (Which is a good thing.)
“Thanks for the mom advice, I’m new to this☺️,” she captioned the video. And we have to give a round of applause to this gracious mom of two who was so willing to accept the (sometimes-ungracious) feedback, do her baby safety research, and then make the necessary changes.
“I love that you showed you were vulnerable and not perfect and took the advice ????,” one person commented, garnering 22 thousand likes. And same. As someone who doesn’t like to admit when she’s wrong, I can admit that that’s not an easy thing to do. She could have silently made the changes while stewing in her anger. Full disclosure, that’s probably what I would have done.
“No one is perfect ???? love you ????,” Hilton responded to that comment.
Other followers echoed the sentiment, saying they were “proud” of the “amazing” mom for having a “growth mindset” and seemingly not taking offense.
“No, I’m not taking offense.☺️,” she commented. “I am a new mom and just learning as I go. So I appreciate advice when it is kind ???? as I’m just trying to be the best mom I can be????”
The praise kept rightfully pouring in:
“Queen behavior as usual ✨????”
“I love that, although you’re a celebrity, you took the time to listen! it shows those who look up to you that it is OKAY to make mistakes and not know everything ????”
“This made me cry. You’re doing so great ❤️Thanks for being real with us. Being a new mom is really hard and you’re doing great ❤️❤️❤️”
… I’m not crying, you’re crying!
And while the naysayers did the right thing by calling out the (potentially fatal) flaws in Hilton’s system, it’s so nice to see a post that overflowing with all this support and positivity. Now Hilton’s “cutesie crew” really is ready to go.
