Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is back in court to appeal his conviction over alleged illegal campaign financing by Libya in 2007. Judges in Paris began hearing the appeal on Monday regarding Sarkozy and nine co-defendants. A lower court convicted him last September of criminal conspiracy and sentenced him to five years in prison. Prosecutors said he and associates sought Libyan funds from 2005 to 2007 in exchange for political and diplomatic favors. Sarkozy, 71, denies wrongdoing.
