Argentina’s largest trade union group has sued to block President Javier Milei’s sweeping labor reform, saying it violates the constitution. On Monday, the CGT filed its complaint in Buenos Aires courts. The reform won the approval in Congress on Friday. It gives employers more freedom on hiring and firing. It also changes severance rules and collective bargaining. The General Confederation of Labor, or CGT, says the law rolls back worker rights and weakens protections against abuse. The union says more than 300,000 jobs have been lost since Milei takes office. Milei called the overhaul “labor modernization.” Judges now decide whether to take the case.
