Authorities in Georgia say a police officer was killed and another was critically wounded in a shootout at a hotel in suburban Atlanta. Gwinnett County police said in a statement that gunfire broke out early Sunday after two officers were dispatched to a call reporting fraud. Police said a person drew a gun and shot both officers, who returned fire. The statement said one of the officers was killed, and the other has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Police say the suspect is also being treated for a gunshot wound. The shooting investigation has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which typically handles shootings involving police officers in Georgia.
