Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni was given an aerial tour of a southern Sicilian town where days of heavy rains triggered a massive landslide. The disaster has forced the evacuation of over 1,500 people and civil protection crews warn the entire hill the town is perched on is falling down. The federal government has included Niscemi in a state of emergency declaration for several southern regions and set aside an initial 100 million euros ($120 million) for assistance. Sicilian regional officials estimate the overall damage to be 2 billion euros.
