Uzbekistan and China have set their sights on increasing their trade turnover to $20 billion “in the near future,” following high-level negotiations in Beijing on January 24 between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Bilateral trade in 2023 hit the $14 billion mark. A statement on the Uzbek president’s website attributed this trajectory to the “powerful breakthrough made in bilateral relations” in recent years. Mirziyoyev was fulsome in his gratitude to his host, expressing... Читать дальше...
Authored by Mark Jeftovic via DollarCollapse.com, One of the things I frequently point at in the incessantly tiresome debate between the precious metals and cryptocurrency communities is that while each asset offers its own advantages, cryptos afford a level of optionality for capital mobility that simply doesn’t exist for precious metals. At least until fairly recently. Gold is heavy – a one kilo bar is slightly smaller than an iPhone. When you see those scenes in “heist” movies where the crooks... Читать дальше...
For over a century, many countries have been relying on the same electricity transmission mechanisms. While some countries have upgraded their equipment, others are using antiquated lines to deliver electricity. As populations rise in an industrialised and increasingly digitalised world, the global electricity demand is also growing. Governments worldwide are exploring innovative ways to upgrade their grid systems to respond to this growing demand. While there is no doubt that the main electricity systems of many countries must be improved... Читать дальше...
Over the last decade, Libya has struggled to get its oil industry back on track due to political disruptions and a lack of foreign investment in the sector. Years of political unrest drove foreign investors out of the market, leaving many oil operations to sit untouched for years and driving oil output down. Achieving high levels of oil output once again will require significant investment in exploration activities, drilling and infrastructure renovation and development, but there is significant... Data centers, especially those powering AI technologies, have seen such explosive growth that they are taxing utilities beyond what soaring power demand is calling for. Some utilities in the eastern and southern parts of the U.S. are proposing build-outs of new natural gas-fired capacity alongside renewables to support the growth in electricity consumption coming from data centers. Others have planned to delay the timeline for retiring coal-fired capacity to ensure grid reliability. Many tech... Читать дальше...
About 10 million barrels of Russian crude oil have been stranded off the coast of South Korea thanks to U.S. sanctions, traders and shipping data told Reuters on Friday. The 10 million barrels, carried by 14 tankers, are of the Sokol variety from Sakhalin-1 and remain unsold due to Western sanctions. That amount represents about 45 days' worth of Sakhalin-1 production at its average rate of 220,000 barrels per day. The vessels—including 3 VLCCs—carrying the Russian crude oil have been stranded near... Читать дальше...
Nuclear power is among the safest and cleanest sources of electricity, making it a critical part of the clean energy transition. However, nuclear waste, an inevitable byproduct, is often misunderstood. In collaboration with the National Public Utilities Council, Visual Capitalist's Bruno Venditti created the following graphic to show the volume of all existing nuclear waste, categorized by its level of hazardousness and disposal requirements, based on data from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Italy is enhancing its overall energy security by significantly increasing investments in both energy transition and conventional hydrocarbon infrastructure. By 2027, the Italian grid operator SNAM will invest approximately $12.5 billion or 11.5 billion euros in its energy transition business, covering transport, liquefied natural gas infrastructure, and storage. This represents a 15% increase from its previous strategic plan (2026), with a primary focus on improving the overall flexibility of its energy system. Читать дальше...
