COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The city of Cohoes will host a spring cleanup day on Saturday, May 18. Residents can dispose of household items, metal, and electronics at the James Street entrance to Lansing Park between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Prices are determined by the size of the vehicle being emptied, and tires are accepted for an extra fee. Proof of residency is required by providing a driver's license, current utility bill, vehicle registration, or a current city tax bill.
Pricing
- Passenger vehicles: $10
- Pickup trucks/ utility vans: $20
- Vehicles with a trailer: $30
- Box trucks/ U-Haul: $75
- Tires (additional fee): $5 for passenger and light truck tires, $15 for car and truck batteries
The citywide spring clean-up is crucial to the city's stormwater management program. It prevents pollutants from entering the system.
Accepted items:
- Household items: sofa and sofa beds, tables, chairs, rugs cut and tied in four-foot lengths, mattresses and box springs, bookcases, wood and metal cabinets, desks, dressers, televisions and electronics
- Metal items: metal appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, hot water tanks, air conditioners, and stoves, pipes, scrap metal, car and light truck rims
- Paint items: latex paint (acrylic), oil paint (alkyd), stains or shellacs, lacquers, sealers, varnishes, urethanes, and textured coatings
