HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Columbia-Greene Humane Society received over $200,000 through multiple grants to support the low-cost clinic at the shelter. The funding will support the Harold Grubin M.D. Clinic and Health Center.
The funds will support the clinic's different services, such as spaying and neutering for families receiving public assistance, and its mission of low-cost vet services. In 2023, the Columbia-Greene Humane Society and SPCA provided low-income individuals with $250,000 in vet assistance.
President and CEO of Columbia-Greene Humane Society SPCA Ron Perez said being able to support pet care for low-income families is something they are honored to provide. "It is our objective that no animal will go without proper medical treatment and that the expansion of the Grubin Center to a full-service animal hospital will fulfill this goal.
Perez added that the funding has also helped pets subjected to animal cruelty. "Our intention is not to compete with for-profit veterinary hospitals; rather, to fill in cracks where animals are not receiving medical attention because of income limitations."
