ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Cuckoo’s Nest, which opened on Western Avenue in Albany in 2017, has set its last day of service. The restaurant's final day will be Sunday, May 19, said owner Kaytrin Ziemann.
In December, Ziemann told NEWS10 that The Cuckoo's Nest was up for sale and would be closing after it was sold. She and her husband Devin were focusing their attention on their Schenectady restaurants, including opening up a new one there.
“This is not something we decided overnight," Ziemann previously told NEWS10. “We’re in Schenectady all the time and don’t give The Cuckoo’s Nest our attention. It’s not fair to that space.”
The Ziemanns own The Nest in Schenectady and are opening Mila Restaurant & Bar, a Mediterranean eatery, in the old Bank of America building at 500 State Street. They’ve been working to open Mila for almost three years.
Ziemann said they are still working on selling the building at 234 Western Avenue that currently houses The Cuckoo's Nest. They are hoping to open Mila the week of June 20.
