REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WCMH) – A 55-foot treetop canopy overlooking greenery and wildlife is set to open in Reynoldsburg.
“The Canopy Walk” at Blacklick Woods Metro Park, located at 6975 E. Livingston Ave., will open to the public after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday. Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks encourage the public to come to the ceremony to explore the new path and enjoy refreshments.
The one-eighth of a mile trail will allow visitors to walk through rope bridges and relax on cargo nets while giving them a bird's-eye view of the forest floor and swamp below. An elevator provides access to the 35-foot-high boardwalk, while stairs take visitors to an observation platform.
The pathway will be perfect for bird-watching and viewing the park throughout the seasons, a Metro Parks news release says. The Blacklick Woods Metro Park, which the canopy overlooks, contains 652 acres of woods, fields, swamp ponds, a small prairie and a golf course.
The Canopy Walk will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April to August and will close at 5 p.m. from September to March.
