The Tam High girls and Terra Linda boys both clinched MCAL championships as they wrapped up undefeated dual meet seasons on Friday.
Tam’s girls earned a 154-35 victory over San Marin to secure an 8-0 season record. The Hawks won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays, and placed first and second in the meet-ending 400 free relay. Tam swimmers swept the 200 free (Sabine Barringer, Amanda Mauzy and Lily Damsen), the 50 and 100 free (Annika Hakes, Julia Ulvestad and Audrey Lowell), the 100 backstroke (Addie Everage, Damsen and Sarah Kemper).
Tam’s Reese Arwin won the diving, followed by teammates Maisy Tommei and Natalie Dean.
The Tam boys also won against San Marin.
Sophia Everett homered and Thomara Drummer had another dominant outing as San Rafael shut out Windsor 7-0 on Friday.
Everett had two hits, two RBIs, and scored twice, hitting a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Cassidy Kaplan had two hits and scored twice. Drummer had three hits, two RBIs and scored a run for the Bulldogs (16-2).
In the circle, Drummer held Windsor to one hit while striking out 13 batters.
Three home runs powered Archie Williams’ rally to a 9-5 home victory over San Rafael on Friday. the Peregrine Falcons’ Jack Evans homered twice to drive in three runs and Miki Accomazzo sent a solo shot over the fence. The Falcons’ Hudson Lofrano doubled twice. Gio Brovelli hit a solo home run for the Bulldogs, who scored three runs to start the game.
College of Marin brought out the big bats against Solano as four home runs powered the Mariners to a 9-1 victory over Solano on Friday. Lucas Schaefer, Tam grad Matteo Bellisimo, Skylar Lenihan and Terra Linda grad Chris Delangis each homered for Marin, while Wyatt Davis was 4-for-5 with a double and a triple. The Mariners’ Zach Coleman went seven innings on the mound as he struck out nine batters and scattered five hits.
Tam wrapped up the third seed for the MCaL playoffs with Thursday’s 13-12 victory over San Marin. Rowie Scobie led the Red-tailed Hawks with five goals, while Quinlan Dayton added three goals. Carson Cann and Kate Carvalho netted two goals each, while Brooklyn Hatch added a score. In Friday’s games, Novato beat Terra Linda 17-3, and Marin Catholic defeated Archie Williams.
Tam (9-7, 6-2 MCAL) will face second seed Marin Catholic (12-3, 6-1) on Wednesday. Meanwhile, fourth-seeded San Marin (13-4, 4-3) will take on top-seeded Redwood (13-4, 8-0).
With the MCAL regular season schedule wrapped up, the teams now turn to the playoffs. No. 2 seed Redwood (10-6, 5-1 MCAL) will meet No. 3 Tam (7-11, 3-3) on Wednesday, while No. 1 Marin Catholic (12-5, 6-0) faces No. 4 San Marin (9-5, 3-3). The boys and girls finals will be held Saturday, April 27 at Marin Catholic.
Second-seeded Archie Williams (7-1) opens the MCAL playoffs on Wednesday against No. 3 Tam (6-2), while top-seeded Redwood (8-0) takes on No. 4 Terra Linda (5-3). Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. The championship is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at Archie Williams.
Butchie Long’s 46 at Peacock Gap lead San Domenico past Bay School, 200-221, on Thursday.
