Liverpool City Council has now closed 15 stores selling illegal vapes since February 2024, as the Council’s operations targeting the sale of these devices continues. The amount of vapes seized from the stores since January 2024 is now over 18,000 – with the seized vapes having an estimated street value of around £220,000. Liverpool City Council’s Alcohol and Tobacco Unit, working alongside Merseyside Police, have seized £5000 worth of illicit vape products and 3000 counterfeit cigarettes worth £6000 this week. The products were seized from a shop in Walton Vale as part Operation Delilah, a national day tackling the supply of illicit tobacco and vaping products.
