Jennings High School is back in session today after the arrest of a man authorities say threatened the school Monday morning.
JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) -- Jennings High School is back in session today after the arrest of a man authorities say threatened the school Monday morning.
In a Facebook post at 7 p.m. Monday, police said Dillon Champagne of Duson was arrested in the area of Hwy. 97 and the Jankie Bridge.
According to police, Champagne stole a vehicle in Duson and drove to a Jennings truck stop. From there, he stole another vehicle, and drove towards Jennings High. Champagne fled the scene after firing a gunshot into the air, authorities said.
The incident caused Jeff Davis Parish Superintendent John Hall to cancel school at Jennings High, and also to move a baseball game scheduled for Monday afternoon from Jennings to Crowley.
"Thank you to everyone that was involved in the search," Hall said. "Great teamwork to all agencies in working together and communicating effectively."
Charges or bond details for Champagne have not been released.
