Local authorities in Ghor province have reported that the IOM office, in coordination with the province’s natural disaster management office, has distributed non-food items to 207 families affected by recent floods.
The aid includes tents, plastic rugs, kitchenware, blankets, clothing kits, solar lamps, and emergency shelter kits, and it was distributed to families that had previously been surveyed and identified.
Furthermore, the Ghor provincial office announced that their teams have surveyed and identified 400 families affected by the floods. Plans are underway to provide assistance to these families as soon as possible.
Residents of Ghor province have welcomed the distribution of these aids and emphasized the need for more assistance for the victims of the recent floods.
Additionally, Afghanistan is currently facing a dire humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by economic collapse and ongoing conflicts that have left millions in urgent need of food, healthcare, and basic services.
Moreover, the situation for Afghan refugees is also difficult, as neighbouring countries, including Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, have begun forcefully repatriating Afghan refugees.
These returns come at a time when Afghanistan is least prepared to reintegrate such a large number of returnees, lacking the necessary infrastructure, resources, and stable conditions to support them.
This situation creates a cycle of displacement and hardship for the returned individuals and their families.
