Following the increase in the death toll from floods in several provinces of the country, local authorities of the Badakhshan province have announced that five people have died and ten others have been injured due to the flooding in this province.
Mohammad Akram Akbari, the head of the Badakhshan Natural Disaster Response Department, has reported that the flooding on Friday, May 10, caused casualties and financial damages.
According to the newsletter, 545 residential homes, 1600 jeribs of agricultural land, 49,000 saplings have been destroyed, and 2000 livestock have died.
Authorities say the flooding in the districts of Tishkan, Tagab, Warduj, Argu, Kohistan, Dariyam, Yavan, Yamgan, Yaftal Payan, and the central district of this province have left significant human casualties and financial losses.
The head of the Natural Disaster Response Department in Badakhshan emphasized that public places, including roads, small power dams, agricultural canals, and bridges in villages, have suffered serious damage, and roads in several districts have been blocked from traffic.
Likewise, local officials in Takhar province also report that severe floods in the Chal, Farkhar, Ashkmash, and Kalfgan districts have resulted in nine deaths and substantial financial losses.
While precise figures of casualties from the recent floods have not been published, these numbers are increasing.
