Qais Alizada, an Afghan boxing athlete, became the runner-up in the Asian Youth Championships.
On Wednesday, May 8th, he lost to his opponent from Kazakhstan in the final round of the Asian Youth Championships and secured the silver medal.
Additionally, this Afghan boxer had previously brought his Indian competitor to his knees in the semi-finals.
Alizada had reached the finals in the 80-kilogram weight category.
Notably, this is Afghanistan’s first medal in Asian competitions in the under-22 age category.
The Boxing Federation has emphasized that Qais Alizada, along with six other Afghan boxers, will travel to Thailand in two weeks to participate in the qualifying competitions for the Paris Olympics.
According to reports, Qais Alizada will also represent Afghanistan in international competitions in Versailles in the coming days.
