Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, alleges that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, is escalating tensions in the Middle East to maintain power.
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan made these remarks on Tuesday, April 16, following his participation in a cabinet meeting during a press conference in Ankara.
He emphasized that as long as “injustice and genocide” continue in Gaza, conflicts and tensions in the region will persist.
The Turkish President claims Netanyahu seeks to prolong his rule by keeping the region in a state of war, with the recent attack on Iran’s embassy in Damascus being the latest move in this direction.
Erdogan further adds that Turkey has not permitted Israel to purchase any military equipment long before the recent atrocities in Gaza.
He labels Turkey as the largest contributor to Gaza and announces the dispatch of their ninth aid ship weighing 3,774 tons to the region.
Erdogan calls on all parties involved in the recent conflicts to exercise “common sense.”
He criticizes the West for condemning Iran’s attack while remaining silent on Israel’s assault on Iran’s embassy.
This comes as the firing of over 300 explosive drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles from Iranian soil towards Israel has sparked international reactions.
