International media, citing diplomatic and military sources in Israel, have reported that the country will not leave Iran’s attack unanswered. This comes despite strong and partisan reactions from countries, with concerns about escalating tensions in the region forming the bulk of international stances.
The Islamic Republic of Iran responded promptly on Saturday to the April 1st attack that targeted its consulate in Damascus with the firing of approximately 200 missiles, rockets, and drones toward Israel, triggering a wave of international reactions and positions. Although the majority of positions are in confrontation, the concern about escalating tensions in the region constitutes a common denominator among all international stances.
The United States strongly condemned Iran’s attack on Israel and concentrated its position on unequivocal support for Israel. However, the White House statement has clarified that the country is not seeking confrontation with Iran and has expressed concerns about escalating tensions in the region.
Other Western countries, including Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, and the European Union, have also condemned Iran’s attack and deemed it unjustifiable. These countries have also expressed concerns about the possibility of escalating tensions in the region in their positions.
However, a significant portion of regional countries, despite refraining from condemning Iran’s attack on Israel, have expressed concerns about the possibility of escalating tensions in the region in their positions. Among them, Saudi Arabia has called for restraint from both Tehran and Tel Aviv, while China, Russia, and Turkey have warned of the consequences of escalating tensions in the region.
These concerns come as international media, including The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources in Israel, have reported that the country is considering options for responding to Iran’s attack. The media further claims that Israel will swiftly retaliate against Iran’s attack, announcing a potential date for Monday, the 15th of April.
Iran has warned against what is perceived as Israel’s potential response and stated that in the event of Israel’s retaliation to this country’s attack, a broader attack will be launched.
