Syrian media reported an attack on the Deir ez-Zor region in the eastern part of the country. The Al-Mayadeen media affiliated with Hezbollah in Lebanon wrote about the “American forces’ attack,” which resulted in several deaths and injuries.
Jerusalem Post reported that the attack targeted positions of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Syria.
The attack reportedly took place early Tuesday morning, March 26th.
Although Syrian media reported that the attack was carried out by the United States, according to Jerusalem Post, a U.S. official told Al Jazeera that their country did not carry out any attack on Syria.
Jerusalem Post wrote that, according to preliminary reports, “senior members of the Revolutionary Guards” were targeted at one of their facilities in Syria.
Iran’s Mehr News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran, also reported on this airstrike, stating that it was “apparently carried out by the United States.”
Mehr News Agency said, “Several U.S. fighter jets conducted 10 simultaneous airstrikes.”
American officials have not yet officially commented on this attack.
Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that seven pro-Iranian militiamen were killed in an airstrike on Deir ez-Zor.
