Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, has emphasized that any military operation in Rafah is “a mistake” and Washington may adopt any approach if Israel continues its attacks.
Al Jazeera reported on Sunday, March 24th, citing Kamala Harris, that President Biden’s patience regarding Benjamin Netanyahu and his decisions regarding the attack on Rafah has ended.
The Deputy President warned that if Israel continues its attacks on Rafah despite the opposition of the United States, Washington may take any approach in response to this action.
According to Harris, currently, more than one million and five hundred thousand Palestinians have taken refuge in Rafah.
He added, after carefully studying the situation in the Gaza Strip, “Based on these studies, I declare that there is currently no other place in this area where Palestinians from Gaza can go.”
This comes as international reactions to Israel’s continued ground attacks on Rafah have intensified. Earlier, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, warned Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call about any forced transfer of Palestinians from the city of Rafah in southern Gaza and called it a “war crime.”
The United Nations has also described the situation of 1.5 million displaced Palestinians in Rafah as “tragic”, and any ground attack on Rafah will result in significant casualties.
