The Turkish Interior Minister announced that he would not allow smugglers of illegal migrants to misuse the soil of the country as an unlawful transit route.
Ali Yerlıkaya, the Minister of Interior for Turkey, stated that security forces inspected 35 hotels in the city of Izmir and detained 40 illegal migrants.
According to the statistics he announced, 39 of these migrants were transferred to deportation centers, and one person is still in detention.
According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, the Minister of Interior of this country emphasized that the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration continues.
Turkey has intensified the expulsion of illegal asylum seekers in the past two years. The country has activated mobile patrols to identify illegal migrants in 30 cities.
According to reports, Turkey has detained and deported more than four thousand Afghan refugees from various cities since the beginning of this year.
After the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, thousands of Afghans have entered Turkey via Iran’s challenging migration routes, hoping to reach Europe. Many have lost their lives on this route.
Many Afghans face numerous challenges within their country due to the Taliban’s oppressive policies, persecution, and the lack of job and economic opportunities.
The Taliban’s restrictive rules limit personal freedoms and opportunities, leading to widespread poverty and unemployment. This situation forces many Afghans to seek refuge in neighboring countries like Turkey, where they hope to find safety and better prospects for themselves and their families.
