Michael Scotto: As of today, I don’t see Cam Thomas and the Nets agreeing to a contract extension, but it’s a situation I’ll certainly monitor all summer. I think Mikal Bridges will wait as well. Brian Lewis: Yeah, I’d put that at less than 50 percent.

The most important was Jonathan Kuminga, who just wrapped up a career year and is eligible for an extension this summer. Kuminga’s potential to build on his breakout 2023-24 campaign—in which he averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 74 games—is one of the Warriors’ most realistic avenues toward raising their ceiling as a team. But for as much as Kuminga’s athleticism provides a necessary jolt to the Warriors’ beautiful game, his decision-making occasionally leaves the coaching... Читать дальше...
Michael Scotto: I spoke to Dennis Smith Jr. He told me he wants to secure a multi-year deal. He said, “I believe I should be able to get that this summer, but we’ll see. You never know with the NBA, but I’m hoping this is the year I can secure that.”

Michael Scotto: Brian, I know in the past you haven’t been at liberty to say who the Nets could go after. Donovan Mitchell (coughs). That’s who I’m looking at. Lewis: I think everything they’ve done implies to me for the last year and change that this is a reset for 2025. Now, I have also added the caveat that there are a few players who could accelerate that process. Donovan Mitchell is one of those few. I don’t see a way that he walks away in free agency. If you know for certain that he’s leaving... Читать дальше...
Michael Scotto: Two teams with the ability to make a sign-and-trade agreement potentially happen are the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans. I know there are members of the Pelicans organization who like Nicolas Claxton, and the future of Jonas Valanciunas is uncertain, given how close the team will be to the luxury tax next season and his lack of usage at the end of the games, including the Play-In loss to the Lakers.

Michael Scotto: Through my conversations with executives regarding Nicolas Claxton’s next salary, I’d say he remains around that $20 million figure annually. I think $25 million would be his ceiling as of now.

League sources believe Andrew Wiggins will be included in trade talks this summer as the Warriors look to improve their roster. During the 2022 title run, Wiggins was arguably Golden State’s second-best player, averaging 16.5 points and 7.5 boards in the playoffs and producing timely shots and great defense in the Finals. The Warriors signed him to a four-year, $109 million extension that fall, but his Golden State tenure has been frustrating since the ink dried.

“Klay will stay if he feels like hes been appreciated and paid what is appropriate,” Myers explained. “But if he’s not, that’s the question. “It’s always kind of a pride component, because it’s not money. People will say, ‘Well, Klay Thompson has made all this money.’ Fine. But you know what? There’s a pride component to it for any professional athlete. So, it’s not just the money. He doesn’t need any more money for the rest of his life. That’s not the point, though. If somebody comes along and doubles the Warriors’ offer... Читать дальше...

On Monday, the former NBA big man hopped on the Michael Kay Show to discuss the New York Knicks’ upcoming playoff prospects. During his conversation, Perkins called out TNT’s Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal for only watching NBA basketball when their network is broadcasting games. As it pertains to the Knicks specifically, who, again, play in New York, Perkins isn’t convinced the TNT duo has seen much of them: “It’s obvious (that) they don’t watch basketball,” Perkins said on the Michael Kay Show.
