The greatest to ever do it.
The top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks showed all season why they were the nation’s best team. And on Sunday, the undefeated season was put to the absolute test by Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the national title game.
But when the clock hit zeros, and South Carolina completed its undefeated season in the 87-75 win, it was clear why head coach Dawn Staley was so proud of her team.
In the postgame interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, the emotions of the accomplishment were on full display as Staley tried to fight back tears with her team there to encourage her.
Aliyah Boston, a former South Carolina player and current Indiana Fever forward, was there with ESPN but gave Staley the encouragement she needed to continue the interview.
It was such a cool moment, and fans loved it for Staley who had just won her third national title.
