The Supreme Court has rejected a plea from former IPS officer Debasish Dhar, who was given a BJP ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal's Birbhum. Dhar's nomination papers were cancelled due to his failure to produce a 'no dues certificate'. The court rejected any prejudice and dismissed the case as withdrawn. The district election office cancelled Dhar's candidature, and the BJP nominated Debtanu Bhattacharya. The election in Birbhum is scheduled for May 13.
