NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stocks sank on Tuesday as CPI figures for January spiked sentiment that inflation is easing. The U.S. dollar surged across a broad range of currencies as Treasury yields jumped.
The CPI in January climbed 0.03 percent from December. The annual CPI rose to 3.1 percent. Dow Jones' poll of economists forecast a January figure of 0.2 percent, and 2.,9 percent on an annualized basis.
