The three automobile suppliers Autoneum, Nittoku and Toyota Boshoku agree an expansion of their existing collaboration through joint research and development activities in vehicle acoustics by means of a joint venture. As of 2018, the initial customer Toyota will benefit from this bundling of acoustics expertise in predevelopment studies as well as through innovative components for optimized vehicle acoustics.
Autoneum is continuing its sponsorship of the World Car Awards as Presenting Partner of the renowned industry award program, extending the relationship which began in 2014. The official kick-off of the 2018 World Car Awards took place today with the announcement of candidates at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. The majority of the nominated models is equipped with Autoneum components, which confirms the Company’s consistent focus on innovation.
In the first half of 2017, Autoneum continued its growth course despite a weak market environment. Net sales in local currencies increased by 4.0% in line with guidance. Sales in Swiss francs rose by 2.4% to CHF 1,117.9 million (prior-year period: CHF 1,091.3 million). Business Groups Europe, Asia and SAMEA recorded organic sales growth that considerably exceeded the market level in the first six months. Autoneum has sold its production facility in Betim, Brazil, to automotive supplier STS Group. A corresponding agreement was signed today. The sale is a necessary move for adapting the Company’s South American production capacity to long-term market demand.
New industry trends such as electric mobility, autonomous driving and car sharing are raising the requirements on future vehicles.
