Rooker hasn’t played since April 7
The Oakland Athletics announced Thursday that they have placed outfielder Brent Rooker on the 10-day injured list with a costochondral cartilage injury. The move is retroactive to April 8. The team selected the contract of Max Schuemann to fill Rooker’s place on the roster. To open up a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s transferred right-hander Luis Medina to the 60-day injured list.

Rooker last played on April 7 against Detroit. He’s appeared in eight games overall this season and is hitting .200/.226/.433 with two home runs and an 89 wRC+ in 31 plate appearances. Rooker has struck out in over half of his plate appearances so far this season.
Schuemann put together a good showing during the spring where he hit .294/.405/.382 in 20 games. He began the season at Las Vegas where he was 4-for-23 with five walks and eight strikeouts in six games. Schuemann is a utility player that is capable of playing in the infield and outfield.
