ArmInfo. "It is a tragedy when the leadership of the country and the political majority, trying to justify that the territories under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia belong to Azerbaijan," MP from the Armenia bloc Ishkhan Saghatelyan told reporters on April 9 after a closed meeting on the issue of delimitation with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
According to Saghatelyan, all the authorities' arguments are aimed at
serving the interests of Baku. In this regard, the parliamentarian
believes, if military actions begin, it will be necessary to record
that they were provoked and legitimized by the current government led
by Prime Minister Pashinyan. Regarding the general impressions of
the meeting, Ishkhan Saghatelyan noted that the parliamentary
opposition once again made sure that the country is in the hands of a
force that will continue the policy of concessions. "Once again it
became obvious that border delimitation and demarcation works are not
actually being conducted, nor negotiations between the Republic of
Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. There are new capitulation
demands made by Baku to Yerevan, which the current government is
ready to satisfy and agree to a new capitulation," he said.
In addition, Saghatelyan is convinced that Armenia is not ready to
resist, nor for full-fledged work on delimitation and demarcation,
which is justified by the demands of Baku. Meanwhile, the MP
emphasized, by ceding these territories in Tavush, Armenia will face
serious security problems, this could collapse the entire defensive
system of the country. "This path will lead the country to a new
serious crisis in the field of security in the Republic of Armenia,"
he pointed out.
And, despite the fact that the head of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and the Deputy Prime Minister promised to pay due attention
to this issue during the discussion, the parliamentarian asks: "What
will happen when the troops of an enemy state stand 100 meters from
the Kirants school?" There is no answer to this question, he noted.
However, as the MP noted, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan was of the
opinion that if we do not give up these territories, there will be a
war. With the same logic, the authorities promised "peace" in
connection with the handing over of a part of the Goris-Kapan
highway, Shurnukh village, etc., but there is still no peace,
Saghatelyan recalled.
"The authorities, by their behavior, legitimize the upcoming military
aggression of Azerbaijan against Armenia," the opposition MP
emphasized. "I assure not only the people of Tavush, but the entire
population of Armenia: the country is in danger, because there is a
group of people in power who are leading the country to new risks,
and to prevent this, we need resistance on three levels: in Armenia,
in Tavush and in the Diaspora. There is a need for opposition, which
at some stage will develop into a national breakthrough, so that it
is possible to get rid of this government, to prevent a new
capitulation that is hanging over us," he concluded.
