Czech World of Warcraft fans donned costumes on Saturday to make the massively popular online game to life, pushing ahead with a scaled-back festival following the coronavirus pandemic postponed the annual event before this year. Dressed as shamans, elves and knights, the gaming lovers participate in games and competitions in a forest in Kamyk nad Vltavou, south of Prague, but the typical live-action battle was scrapped due to a very low turnout.
The annual spring festival generally brings up to 200 fans but organisers said turnout was only about 60 this year following the delay brought on by coronavirus lockdowns in Europe.
"We're just happy that this year (the festival) is occurring," said Eliska Pabl Kaplanova, one of the organisers. "So this year it's a smaller point."
The online role-playing game has become a cultural phenomenon since launch in 2004, with tens of thousands of gamers worldwide.
Jaroslav Racek, a policeman daily, said he was making his seventh visit to the Czech event and that for him it was a opportunity to become immersed in something distinct. "A person could love himself in this world and not simply sit in a computer."

The minimum and recommended system requirements for both the PC and Mac version of World of Warcraft's eighth expansion, mention that a Solid State Drive (SSD) with 100GB of free space. Previous expansions, including World of Warcraft most recent Battle for Azeroth expansion, didn't cite an SSD as a platform requirement. For reference, Battle for Azeroth necessitates an HDD (7200RPM) with cheap wow gold at least 70GB of free space.
