League Cup: Oxlade-Chamberlain double leads Arsenal to quarter-final
Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chemberlain scored doubles to lead Liverpool and Arsenal to the English League Cup quarter-final.
Arsenal faced Reading in their own third round clash and had no trouble getting past the Miners.

Oxlade-Chamberlain scored two well taken goals for the Gunners who won 2 – 0 on the night.
The Englishman’s first goal came when he took up possession on the right, ran at two retreating defenders and drilled a fine finish into the far corner of the net.
His second was gifted to him as a poor clearance from Reading set up a strike for the former Southampton man, and his low effort took a deflection into the top corner to clinch Arsenal’s progression.
Daniel Sturridge also scored twice as Liverpool bested Tottenham Hotspurs at Anfield to book a quarter-final place.
Sturridge’s first came when he reacted fasted to a block Marko Grujic shot. His second came when Georginio Wijnaldum’s through-ball sent Sturridge clear of a high defensive line to fire the ball through Vorm.
Vincent Janssen’s penalty for the Lilywhites was merely a formality in a match the Reds were totally dominant in despite Jurgen Klopp’s decision to make 11 changes to the team that beat West Brom in their last match.
In other games Harry Maguire and Micheal Dawson scored as Hull City defeated Bristol City 2 – 1 on the night.
Lee Tomlin scored a consolation goal at the end.
The biggest winners of the night however were Newcastle United who defeated Preston North End 6 – 0 at the Sports Direct Stadium.
Alexander Mitrovic opened the scoring in the 11th minute with Alan Browne earning a red card for Preston just after.
With the red card, the flood gates opened; Mohammed Diame, Matt Ritchie (pen), Mitrovic, Diame and Ayoze Perez added other five goals.
