– The Senate summoned Abubakar Malami concerning the suit he filed against Bukola Saraki
– Senator Dino Melaye questioned the suit which he says makes all ministers fake
– The senate declared its standing rules as authentic
The Senate on Tuesday, June 21 summoned Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) over a suit he filed against Bukola Saraki, the Senate president, and Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy, for alleged forgery.
The Senate resolved to mandate its committee on judiciary to summon the AGF “to explain and to justify with evidence the basis for his act and to explain why it does not constitute incompetence, gross misconduct, contempt of court and abuse of office”.

The Senate also asked the committee to ask the AGF to explain why it does not constitute incompetence, gross misconduct, contempt of court and abuse of office.
This summon comes after the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye raised a point of order on the charges levelled against the Senate leadership by the AGF.
Melaye on his point argued that if the Senate Standing Rules which the leadership are being accused of forging was truly mutilated, it means that all activities done or approved by the Senate can be annulled.
The senator on his order listed the budget, the ministers under President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet as all fake following the forgery.
“The senate notes that its principal officers are being accused of a fraud that does not exist,” Melaye said.
“This emerging trend poses a threat to security and Nigeria’s unity.
“The executive has decided to be chasing rats when the economy is gradually falling into a recession.
“The senate is aware of the dubious acts of the attorney-general of the federation and his office,” he said.

“The same rule that is said to be a fraud has been used to screen a nuisance like the AGF,” Melaye added.
“This Senate without fear or favour will continue to promote the peace and unity of this great nation,” he said.
However, the Senate also declared that its standing rules were authentic and not forged.
