CBS Reveals Fall Premiere Dates: Kevin James, Joel McHale Get Post-‘Big Bang Theory’ Time Slots
CBS’ fall 2016 premiere dates reveal the network is continuing their successful strategy of launching new comedies behind perennial ratings powerhouse “The Big Bang Theory.”
Freshman comedy “Kevin Can Wait,” which stars Kevin James, will debut after “Big Bang” on Monday, Sept. 19. After “Thursday Night Football” wraps up, “Big Bang” will serve as the lead in to the Joel McHale sitcom “The Great Indoors” on Thursday, Oct. 27.
This will serve as a big test for sophomore series “Life in Pieces,” which got great ratings its first season with the “Big Bang” lead in. “Life in Pieces” will now air on Thursdays at 9:30 beginning on Oct. 27.

Once “Big Bang” moves to Thursdays, “Kevin Can Wait” will serve as the lead in to Matt LeBlanc‘s new comedy series “Man With a Plan” beginning on Monday, Oct. 24.
“NCIS” alum Michael Weatherly isn’t straying too far from his old stomping ground on Tuesdays. Weatherly’s new drama “Bull,” which is loosely based on the life of Dr. Phil McGraw, will air between “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans” on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The “MacGyver” reboot with Lucas Till and George Eads will launch on Friday, Sept. 23, while new medical drama “Pure Genius” will also debut on Oct. 27.

“Case Closed,” a six-hour limited event documentary that re-examines the unsolved JonBenét Ramsey murder, debuts Sunday, Sept. 18.
