A total of 247 Caloocan City residents were hired on-the-spot by different agencies during the city’s “Mega Job Fair” held at the SM Grand Central in Barangay 88 on Tuesday, Aug. 16, the local government said on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
The City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and 46 other companies, including malls, supermarkets, and business process outsourcing, allotted 6,156 vacant positions for the job fair.
“Sa ating mga kawani sa PESO, salamat sa inyo. Nakikita ko kung paano niyo tinutugunan ang paglalaan natin ng job opportunities para sa mga Batang Kankaloo (To our PESO staff, thank you. I can see how you respond to our allocation of job opportunities for the Batang Kankaloo),” Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said.
Malapitan also instructed the PESO to look for 10,000 additional job opportunities for the jobless residents.
The local government said that Malapitan aims to provide 20,000 jobs for his constituents in his first 100 days in office.
“Sikapin nating makipag-ugnayan sa mas marami pang ahensya para mas marami nating mga kababayan ang magkaroon ng trabaho, lalo’t kinakailangan nating maka-rekober sa krisis (Let’s try to coordinate with more agencies so that more of our people can have jobs, especially since we need to recover from the crisis),” the mayor said.
The next Mega Job Fair in North Caloocan will be held at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Aug. 26, the city government said.
