Dispute over Rose Pak’s remains settled
Pak’s two surviving sisters, Teresa Wang and Joanna Pak Kish, have agreed to appoint Fremont Bank to administer Pak’s estate, which is worth about $650,000, and cremate her remains. The dispute had prevented Pak’s body from being dealt with, three months after her funeral, an event that drew an array of powerful San Francisco politicians, including current Mayor Ed Lee and former mayors Art Agnos, Willie Brown, and Gavin Newsom. The feud began in October, a month after Pak passed away, when Wang filed a petition to have Debra J. Dolch appointed as the administrator of the estate. An Oct. 18 filing in probate court by Wang’s attorney contended that Wang is “entitled to succeed all or part” of Pak’s estate. Ten days later, Kish, Pak’s younger sister, submitted her own appeal with the court contending that she should be appointed the estate’s administrator, and that she is “entitled to one half of the decedent’s estate.”
