CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Campbell Soup's first-quarter profit beat Wall Street's view, helped by reduced expenses and sharply lower restructuring charges.
The maker of canned soup, Pepperidge Farm cookies and V8 juice earned $292 million, or 94 cents per share, for the three months ended Oct. 30.
Earnings, adjusted for one-time costs and restructuring charges, came to $1 per share.
Campbell Soup Co. maintained that its fiscal 2017 adjusted earnings per share will climb by 2 percent to 5 percent, or $3 to $3.09 per share.
