Arik Armstead’s season ended last week, but the defensive tackle will be ready when the 49ers report for the 2017 offseason program.
The 49ers placed Armstead on injured reserve because a shoulder injury he sustained early in training camp.
Armstead played in each of the first eight games, collecting 2.5 sacks, but he was unable to finish the final two contests and was a liability in run defense.
Defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil acknowledged Armstead’s injury “clearly” had an impact on his performance.
Outside linebacker Aaron Lynch (ankle) returned to practice for the first time since he was injured Oct. 23, but he hobbled through individual drills.
