Oakland dealt longtime right fielder Josh Reddick, one of the club’s few remaining players from the A’s magical 2012 season, to Los Angeles on Monday morning along with starter Rich Hill.
“You look back and those three playoff seasons in a row, Josh was an intricate part of that,” A’s starter Sonny Gray said.
The A’s received minor-league right-handers Grant Holmes, Jharel Cotton and Frankie Montas, a Triple-A starter who is recovering from a stress-reaction fracture in the rib cage area, also is in the deal.
Oakland’s front office was still having conversations with other clubs as the 1 p.m. Pacific trade deadline approached, and the team could look to move relievers, particularly left-hander Marc Rzepczynski, and corner infielder Danny Valencia.
The previous year, while in first place, they made several big trades in an effort to shore up the roster for the postseason, acquiring Jeff Samardzija and Jon Lester but trading slugger Yoenis Cespedes in the process.
Cotton, 24, is 8-5 with a 4.90 ERA at Triple-A, while Montas, 23, had a 2.25 ERA in just seven appearances at Triple-A after offseason rib surgery.
