Fox News chief Roger Ailes resigns; Rupert Murdoch steps in as acting CEO
21st Century Fox Inc. said Thursday that Roger Ailes, chief executive of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, has resigned effective immediately. The move comes after recent sexual-harassment allegations against the longtime head of the network. Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of 21st Century Fox, will take over as acting CEO of Fox News and Fox Business. Shares of Fox were not active in after-hours trading. MarketWatch is owned by Dow Jones, a unit of News Corp., of which Murdoch is executive chairman.
